I found a 4th instar basking on common milkweed along the bike path on the Dune Climb. No adults seen at the Dune Climb today or yesterday. At lookout points 9&10 on the Pierce Stocking scenic drive, I did not find any monarch activity. Milkweed looks good, but no frass and very few chew hokes. Checked a few dozen plants thoroughly, scanned many others. Only found one 4th instar over the last 2 days. Sad. Last year there were adults all over, and a 5th instar at lookout 10. Will check other hotspots later this week. No adults on back country roads, though milkweed is plentiful. Such a contrast from last year.
