Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/04/2016

Number: 1

One lonely female lay 9 eggs. Haven't seen another monarch all summer. No evidence of nibbling on any wild or cultivated milkweed around Winnipeg. We've taken in the 9 caterpillars. 7 are ready to J very soon. The other 2 seem to be one instar behind (which implies that the female lay those eggs later but we didn't see her). We'll be looking for more caterpillars in all our travels this summer and will bring them home to "farm". We always take a capture kit with us in the car.
