Observed this male, Monarch nectaring for 45 minutes near Howland's Island, part of the Northern Montezuma Wildlife Refuge.
It has been extremely dry this summer in Central N.Y. and most milkweed flowers either dried up or didn't develop at all. This was a patch that had been mowed earlier and was now blooming well.
