We have lots of milkweed as well as other native flowers and even 4 butterfly bushes.
I have hummingbirds, orioles, woodpeckers, 64 purple martin cavities with 104 live fledglings this year but only one monarch so far.
We live near a golf course in Watertown South Dakota. The city has declared war on native cottonwood trees and have been taking them out by the hundreds.
Not good for the native wild life. They took many down on the golf course this spring and the baby birds were peeping from nest cavities in the downed trees.
