Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/02/2016

Number: 1

Bright female. Stopped to lay eggs.
Fostering three caterpillars since 7/28. Took them to our National Night Out Celebration where our Environmental Advisory Council has a booth. This year, as last, we featured a large poster with information on Monarchs. Having live examples attracted many families. It was like a petting zoo. The kids wanted to very gentle touch them - "so soft". The caterpillars did not seem to notice. Thought they would be tired when returned home but they are busily exploring and munching their fresh milkweed stems. Testing to see if they will eat Butterfly milkweed stem. Lights out now.
