This is the third captive-reared monarch butterfly to emerge. Male. Unfortunately the tips of his wings are curled. Several days ago, I noticed that his chrysalis had developed a small dent in the bottom. I have placed him onto Russian sage outdoors, and hope that his wings will function enough for him to fly. Perhaps there are observers who can offer an explanation. Is this possibly O.E.?
