This evening I watched a monarch butterfly nectaring on lantana. It was a male, I believe. I have not seen many adult monarchs this summer, they are far and few between. I have only found one monarch caterpillar so far on the milkweed. I will keep watching, though. Up until recently, our area had been experiencing drought condtions. We were blessed with soaking rains the past few days and the flowers that provide nectar have perked up.
