Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 08/08/2016

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #271 reports a female or juvenile male hummingbird frequenting the Lady in Red Salvia blooms planted in pots and beds in the front yard. It also likes the Tithonia nearby, as well as tropical milkweed blooms in front. It also visits the coral honeysuckle and Upland Ironweed in the back for nectar. Before the Buddleia stopped blooming the hummingbird [if the same one] enjoyed those blooms too. Hopefully the Buddleia will recover from the cutback I did to try and help it overcome whatever is attacking it. My husband and I have seen one at a time in the front, but occasionally we think we see two in the back, one chasing the other so fast we're not sure whether they are two hummingbirds or not.
