Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/18/2016

Number: 60

Hi all, another solid day of monarch migration and tagging at Rosetta McClain Gardens, Scarborough, Ontario. 35 monarchs tagged today from 10:50am to 3:45pm. Temperature, wind and moisture were just perfect for all butterflies at Rosetta. Missed about 10 monarchs or more and the hawk watch team counted another 15+ monarchs. So easily 60 or more monarchs passed through Rosetta McClain today. Most monarchs were definitely migrating. A few hung around so are likely "summer" generation monarchs vs the "super generation" migrating to Mexico. Migration is definitely earlier this year, by a week or more. Mostly males migrating at this point with a few females starting to come through.
YTD 58 monarchs tagged in 3 days.
Good tagging
Terry
