Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 08/21/2016

Number: 2

Ruby-Throat defending 3 feeder's or at least trying to. He has really put on a lot of wt. this past week. His take off flight from feeder was a very slow one like a jet plane carrying too much cargo. Very beautiful when sitting at feeder. His throat is very full & has changed to an orange/red color. They begin feeding at 5:30 am (CST) in the dk. I thought they could not see in the dark. Also have a Black-Chinned male, R.T female & maybe a R.T. Juvenile. Not sure if we still have the large B.C. female that we had earlier this summer. They are feeding from flower's, and heavy on the mosquito's in the past 2=3 wks. Our Cuphea x 'David Verity' has been a favorite & they fight over it. Also Salvia greggi "Cherry Chief" has been another favorite by both Species.
