Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/23/2016

Number: 4

Yes, migration is on! Had a very cool sighting on Sunday August 21. A partial albino adult male ruby-throat came to feed on a pinch-waist nectar feeder. Thought it was female at first. Then looked at it with binoculars. He had partial white face and top of head and leading edges of wings. Looking at it face on it looked almost totally white. He had a very thin band of red throat feathers. Rest of throat was white. Saw 6 hummers that day. The partial albino adult male, 2 other adult males, 2 females and 1 immature male. Hummers are mostly feeding from nectar feeders now. But they feed on Wendy's Wish and black & blue salvias mostly in the morning. Saw 1 adult male and 3 other hummers that were either females or immature male this morning. Lots of competition from bees and hornets.
