Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/21/2016

Number: 1

Walking through these farm fields that were mowed for hay early summer, I observed stands of common milkweed along with green milkweed and butterfly milkweed. All had fresh foliage and were flowering since they had been mowed down earlier.
What did monarchs do for fresh milkweed in August before mowers came about?
Are bison able to eat milkweed, or would the trampling of herds encourage fresh growth?
Is cutting milkweed after flowering encouraged for a second flush of growth?
