My husband was working at mowing and trimming our front and backyards today when he observed three Monarch butterflies during the time that he was there. The first one flew to a very tall milkweed plant that we first planted from seed during the spring of 2015. This year the plant has grown to about 10 feet tall. We also purchased other types of milkweed plants from a wildflower nursery this spring which are planted in a different part of the backyard. He examined the underneath side of the milkweed leaves where the Monarch landed, but did not find any eggs yet, but we shall continue to look for them. Later while he was still in the yard he spotted two Monarchs enter the backyard at about the same time. One flew across the yard and continued flying over the fence in a southerly direction. The other Monarch stayed and was seen feeding on one of our Butterfly Bushes for about 10 minutes. It then flew over the fence out of the yard.
