Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/24/2016

Number: 4

Visited Point Pelee National Park (PPNP) at The TIP & area between 4:30 & 6pm. 81° sunny with strong SSE wind.
Did not locate any roosts at the TIP nor did I observe any monarchs fluttering about.
Upon walking north back to parking lot I observed separately, minutes apart, 2 monarchs fluttering south towards the TIP. Was unable to keep up with them to determine destination.
Once in my vehicle I traveled north & near Sleepy Hollow is a restoration area with Common Milkweed. I observed at the same time, 2 monarchs in this area. One male landed & rested on milkweed (photo)
the other fluttered about trees & appeared to be looking for a roosting spot. Lost sight of both.
On way home about 1 1/2 miles from park I observed a monarch in directional flight north to south cross our road in front of me, heading toward PPNP.
Any that have gathered should journey south across Lake Erie Fri morning Aug 26th with clear skies, warm temps & favorable northerly wind.
