Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/25/2016

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #299 report: While walking on the Boardwalk behind the Virginia Living Museum, 1 watched a juvenile or female ruby-throated hummingbird nectaring @ 8:20 am for about 1 minute at the feeder that staff maintain just outside the back of the main building. It would hover, then perch, then hover a bit more, perch again. It perched more than hovered. This is before business hours. It was probably startled by the robotic dinosaur making noises nearby, which was there since Memorial Day. The robot will be removed after Labor Day.
