Since we had seen fewer than 10, one at a time, all summer, we finally saw 4 on the butterfly bushes on 8-26. Have seen maybe 2 today so far, 8-27. I also have two small cats that I raised from eggs on our common milkweed plants. We had an unusually large number of oleander aphids this year and tried to destroy a lot of them. They particularly invaded the butterfly weed I planted, so I cut the whole plant back to the ground and got rid of the cuttings. Hoping to see many more monarchs come through.
