Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/28/2016

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #271 report: Several times during the day I've seen 1 Ruby-throat at a time, not sure it's the same bird: 9 am 1 startled & flew away as I came to window looking out the front; 11:05 am 1 nectared on native coral honeysuckle on the back yard arbor, 4:08 pm 1 nectared on Tithonia then was startled by passerby and flew up over the house; 1 just before 7 pm nectared for 2 minutes on Tithonia, Lady-in-Red Salvia and Tropical Milkweed blooms in the front yard. At 7:09 pm one was in front trying out the one Orange Profusion Zinnia bloom for nectar as well as Tithonia and Salvia. In past years, the hummingbirds loved Wild Petunia Ruellia blooms all over the front yard, but this year they seem to have ignored them.
