I saw 2 adult monarch butterflies flying and nectaring on a patch of wildflowers, mostly goldenrod. Temperature is 85 degrees fahrenheit but feels like 90 in the sun. They were probably stocking up on fats and sugars for the journey south. I couldn't tell the sex of either of them, but there seemed to be a territorial dispute, it could have been mating courtship, but one returned while the other did not after a quick chase.
