These battered bee balm flowers have been hit by hail 3 times in the past 4 weeks. I was out trimming haggard stems of perennials and though I had better leave these. The hummers have been sucking from them for as long as they have been opened, over a month. Sure enough. One appeared. I can hear their high chirps somewhere in the crab apple tree. I will miss them! In photo hummer is a on the right side of the top left flower.
