Monarch Adult Sighted

I don't know if it's possible for Monarchs to reach the SF Peninsula, but I'm pretty sure I saw one in my back yard 9:30 a.m. today. First saw resting folded on an oleander in the sun. It was bright orange with paler underside, thick black veins. Glided around the yard once, then took off into the oaks and pines in the creek area behind my house. I planted zone appropriate milkweed (swan) last summer, which is now quite tall and full of seed pods. I never saw any eggs or cocoons, but I havent really checked in a few months. If someone could tell me if Peninsula sightings are possible (I womder of it's a dead end, because they'd have to cross water), I would greatly appreciate it!
