Monarch Waystation #271 report: small female monarch watched from kitchen window from 12:50am to 1 pm. First seen hovering or balancing on top of tropical milkweed, then flew to Tithonia. Nectared on Tithonia for 7 minutes, then flew to a different tropical milkweed plants and took about 30 seconds to lay an egg or maybe more, it didn't seem like the abdomen actually moved at all. It then flew to a smaller Tithonia on the other side of the patio and nectared briefly. She flew to the next door neighbor's tall plant next to my yard's border to rest. She was only there a few seconds when she jumped up and flew deeper into the neighbor's yard out of sight.
