Date: 09/01/2016

Number: 3

Visited Point Pelee National Park between 4 pm & 5:30 pm. Partly sunny cool day 23°c/73f light wind from the north.
Observed 3 monarchs. One flitting about near entrance of park. Another fluttering south in 'meadow' just south of The TIP parking lot. The 3rd came from the east side of The TIP, fluttered thru the sparse trees near the TIP to the west side and continued southwest straight across Lake Erie just a few feet above the Lake & continued out of view. West side of TIP was mostly calm; Pelee Island seen in the distance(photo).
A north wind still tomorrow but Sat & Sun present a south wind & reports of 138 monarchs tagged east of here could roost over the wknd & possibly cross the Lake on Labour Day Monday with favorable northerly wind.
