Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/02/2016

Number: 6

6 ruby throated hummers today. Adult male hummer passed thru today. He fed for awhile this morning and apparently moved on south.

Had 5 females (maybe 1 immature male) zipping and feeding this evening. They were feeding on insects a majority of the time. Watched them zip and hover, open their beak and snatch a bug.

Rest of the time they fed more on salvias and firecracker than on nectar feeders. They stoked up on nectar feeders at end of evening.

Last hummer went for evening roost at 7:56 p.m. for third evening in a row.
