My first time ever catching a WILD monarch with my net!! Saw him on my butterfly bush....noticed no tag.....big & handsome I said 'I wanna tag you!' Ran in garage to grab my net. Ran out...it was gone. Moments later I tracked him down flitting south near one of our spruce trees. A quick swoop to the right & gotcha!!
WBG 036, after a pit stop at Point Pelee is on his way to Mexico!! So fun!! I rear them but don't get time to chase them. About 160 released so far this season.
Observed about 6 individually pass thru our property from 9 am til around 4 pm. One stopped to nectar on purple butterfly bush. All others just flitted south toward Point Pelee. Gorgeous day 80° with light easterly wind.
