I was curious and checked the small Common Milkweed plants coming up in the large field across the road from my house. I found a bunch of small caterpillars also. I thought it was too late now but Monarch Butterflies are still breeding and laying eggs here. I brought in what eggs and caterpillars I could find to raise but there are probably more over there.
