A male has been sitting in the tree above our feeder for 3 days now, feeding when necessary and fiercely defending "his" feeder. There may be more than one other trying to steal a drink but I have never documented more than 2 hummingbirds at a time. The volume of nectar in feeder has been declining more rapidly than earlier in the summer.
