Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/10/2016

Number: 6

I thought you'd like to know, I'm not sure why, but our Rubythroat population has declined drastically in the past 4 years. At the height of our charm numbers about 4 yrs ago, we had nearly 4 dozen hummers here. Each year we see less and less. We have been trying to educate locals here about red dye and sour nectar, to little avail. Maybe the birds never make it back after migration south? So this year 2016, the most I saw at once was 6, but only 2 sets of adult male and female this year. I have only seen 3 immature Rubies. Our adult males have gone south as of 9/1.
