Sightings report image

Date: 09/07/2016

Number: 2

Sighted two males, 10:00 AM, weather mostly overcast, in backyard butterfly garden. The two males were fighting, the older, worn butterfly had the upper hand throughout. Once I got them separated and put the "loser" on a butterfly bush branch to rest for a while, the older, worn and torn "winner" kept returning to the area, I waved him off to let the other rest, he then started "buzzing" me as if to chase me from "his" territory, after several times he finally stayed on the far side of butterfly garden and nectared on lantana. The "loser" butterfly flew away after about 20 min's rest (seemed much younger, bright colors). Later in afternoon only saw the older, tattered "winner".
