Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/08/2016

Number: 6

After laying eggs on August 30th, about 20 of the eggs hatched on Sept 3rd and 4th.
Only about 6 tiny caterpillars survive today. I suspect a large spider that I spotted on the milkweed had something to do with the reduced numbers. There was also a large green caterpillar, not a monarch, that was on the milkweed. I removed the spider and green caterpillar. Remaining monarch caterpillars are doing well and growing. They have doubled in size since hatching. They should form into a Chrysalis around the 18th of Sept.
