I work in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and in the backyard at my office, I have planted a butterfly garden of several milkweed varieties for monarchs, as well as rue, dill, and parsley for swallowtails. We fostered three larvae to adulthood a couple weeks ago. Yesterday, I retrieved 10 larvae from my milkweed and put them in my butterfly house with plenty of milkweed to eat. There are three more larvae I've spotted out there today, at different instars. But, this particular posting is related to the one adult I saw drinking nectar from my butterfly milkweed this morning.
