Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/07/2016

Number: 10

I work in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and in the backyard at my office, I have planted a butterfly garden of several milkweed varieties for monarchs, as well as rue, dill, and parsley for swallowtails. We fostered three larvae to adulthood a couple weeks ago. Yesterday, I retrieved 10 larvae from my milkweed and put them in my butterfly house with plenty of milkweed to eat. They are at various instars; one molted overnight.
