I stood transfixed as a monarch entered my front yard from the NE, headed up over garage and then second story, headed SW at an altitude of about 50 feet (judged by the height of my neighbor's elm) when it caught an air current and proceeded to glide SW out of sight. DEFINITELY DIRECTIONAL FLIGHT.
