We planted Milkweed seeds but none grew, so we deliberately allowed all the wild Milkweed in our garden to grow free and organically. We never saw a Monarch Butterfly, but our 8 year old granddaughter found two large Monarch caterpillars on our Milkweed, next to her fairy house. So we brought them inside in jars, with leaves and an "L" shaped stick, and set cheesecloth on the top. On Saturday evening, September 3rd, the first made its chrysalis. On September 4th the second did the same. Our granddaughter had taken the 2nd to her house, as she had much more Milkweed there.
We are now watching for the chrysalises to darken, and for the butterflies to emerge! This means so much as we used to have many and the last two years none. We are strongly in favour of banning glyphosate. Thank you for this site!
PS: I just made the map accurate. If you receive a duplicate of this report, this is the correct map.
