Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/07/2016

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #271 report: a female monarch was spotted alternating nectaring with laying eggs in the front yard from 5:23 to 5:35 pm. She laid eggs on Tropical and Common milkweeds plus Butterflyweed, and nectared on Tithonia and Tropical milkweed. She had a "bird beak" notch on her right hind wing that let me ID her as the same individual flying back and forth through my yard and my neighbor's during the time observed. It was tough to tell how many eggs she laid because passersby would startle her up in the midst of laying and I didn't go out to verify eggs.
