I have raised Monarch butterflies for 30 years. I would like to share three observations: 1). I have been able to find, raise, and release more Monarchs this year than any of the 30 previous years, 2). This is the largest late season burst of egg/caterpillar activity that I have seen in 30 years, and 3). For this area, there are an enormous amount of eggs being laid for September. I have never seen so many eggs this late in the season. Typically I do not find eggs after the end of August, at the latest.
