Our 1 Adult "Visiting" Male R.T. is still with us causing a "Ruckus". 10am he is unable to control all 6 feeder's that are out in yard. He put on a glorious" Show for my husband & I between 1-2 pm. All of the Hummer's were active today. That female, the large one that feeds by the fence was really focused on drinking "huge" amounts of sugar water. I noticed the long sitting "fill-up" times which I think signals she may not be around much longer. I counted 30-plus sips at 1 sitting. Where does she put all of that sugar H2O? She has put on so much wt. & her white breast is so very large she almost looks similar to a "Tufted-Titmouse" sitting on Aspects feeder. She does look about 1/2 the size of that song bird because he came a visiting also, along with a Cardinal & a Woodpecker. The hummingbird was not sure how to get them off of his feeder. The Tufted-Titmouse did not know how to reach the nectar. He tried sitting & when that did not work he thought he would hang on the pole & try to reach it from the port that way but that didn't work either. Oh well. All of the Juvenile's were out today giving that male R.T. a very busy time. I laughed at him trying to keep all of the Juvie's at bay. The male R.T. got so "spazed" out one time he was just hovering in the air @ the top of our patio cover looking to his rt, then left, & then back rt. trying to decided if he needed to run someone off or just maybe go sit up high in the Oak Tree & keep watch. There for awhile he looked like he was in pain during the indecision struggle. He was so funny! It appeared he was saying "What do I do now? These Juvie's are all over the place to my right, to my left coming at me from all sides. Where is my back-up? Oh, yeh, that's right I do not have any back-up. I am it. It's just me. Oh, my this is getting tiring just hovering here. I think I will go up in the Oak Tree & take a "rest", regroup & then decide what to do."- Oh, the life of a Hummingbird. So tiring at times! Our male was a "No-Show" for his dusk feeding which was usual. :-(
