Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/11/2016

Number: 8

The great migration appears to have finally started in central Illinois! I saw eight individual monarchs at various times today, and aside from a couple in the early morning all were headed in a westerly or southwesterly direction. Some passed through my back yard, like the one which stopped to refuel on our hibiscus (photo), and some were seen while driving. Winds were very light. Temperature about 75.
