I saw a single monarch alighting on yellow hawkweed on a Maine island, Frenchboro, which is 8 miles south of Bass Harbor on Mt. Desert Island. I don't believe there is a SINGLE milkweed plant on this island and I'm very interested in heading up a planting project. This sighting was definitive--perhaps the only monarch I've seen this year.
