we own 33 acres, 22 acres in pasture. these 6 Monarchs were scattered over the 22 acres feeding on what we call ironweed. this is my third year of seeing Monarchs on our property. Mass migration has been late September (26th to 28th) the past two years. seems a little early to be seeing them. I'm sure they have come through for many years. I've only really paid attention for three years. kind of neat to see them.
