Bald Eagle

Date: 09/14/2016

Number: 1

While coming down Junction #39 at Route 248 in Allegany County. Myself and my wife observed a large mature bald eagle circling in a farmer's pasture the eagle landed and appeared to feed on something. To our amazement we saw four more eagles two of which had the white cap. The other two did not have the white cap. After observing them for a few minutes they took off and circled above our car at a fairly low alltitude Close enough to identify all five as bald eagles. A town highway employee watering the gravel road also saw the eagles. Amazing sighting. I have summer residence in West Union and know of two nests in the area. One on Route 248-A and one on Route#19 near Route#86 both in Allegany County. Beautiful bird to observe and it's nice to see them making a come back.
