We have been seeing monarchs in the state planted zinnia fields at the intersection of Hwy 24 and Hwy 58 in Cape Carteret. Saturday we saw and tagged 5. Interestingly, we photographed a monarch we had tagged six days prior. Sadly, it looks like the state may be about to mow all the zinnias down. The field on the south side of the intersection has already been mowed and there has been one mower pass along the edge of the field on the northeast corner of the intersection.
