Early afternoon during a 20 minute observation period I was able to count at least 15 monarchs nectaring on tithonias and zinnias at flower beds in my yard. When I returned to the house, there were an additional 5 monarchs nectaring on zinnias and lantana near the porch. So I estimate at least 20 monarchs in the yard this afternoon but there were probably more. I had noticed monarch activity in the yard since mid morning.
