Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/20/2016

Number: 4

Hummer migration has reduced the number of ruby-throats staying in our neighborhood. Went from 10-12 over the weekend of 9/17-18 to 4 today and yesterday. They drank about 32 ounces of nectar over Saturday and Sunday. But they have lots of other sources of nectar as well such as about a dozen salvias, 2 salmon fuschia, 1 firecracker and 3 agastache to feed on in our yard. Not to mention our neighbor's flower garden that encompasses their entire back yard. I also see the hummers catching lots of insects. Last hummer left the salvias yesterday evening at 7:30 p.m. to go roost for the evening. Very entertaining to watch our little mob the last few weeks. Keep the feeders out and nectar fresh. The little zippers are still winging their way south from central and southern Minnesota. Saw 10-12 hummers also at nectar feeders about 15 miles south of Winona Minnesota over the weekend.
