Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/20/2016

Number: 6

We currently have 6 hummingbirds at our feeders and flower gardens. One is an adult female, and the other 5 are all juveniles. Most, if not all, of the juveniles seem to have heavily streaked throats and/or some amount of red feathers in their gorget areas, so we are assuming that they are all young males. We are greatly enjoying watching them every day as they chase one another in defending "their" area of the yard or "their" feeder(s.) We are really going to miss their twittering and their aerial flight displays as the time is drawing nearer each day toward their departure on their long southern migration. We have grown to love these little magnificent birds over the many years that we have been feeding and observing them.
