A male and female, as well as several others, have been in our butterfly garden for the past few weeks. The female is easy to identify because she is missing her right lower wing. I have observed mating on two occasions. I have observed perhaps 30-40 caterpillars during the past month. One adult is about to emerge from a chrysalis attached to the bottom of my wheelbarrow.
There do not appear to be as many caterpillars in our garden as those observed in 2015.
