Still have four ruby-throats,females and/or juveniles. Each one has established ownership of the four 3.5 ounce feeders that I have hanging on the front,back and sides of my house. Yesterday the hummer who visits the feeder on my porch came and fed from it while I stood only about a foot away. The hummer guarding the deck area is definitely an immature male. I have seen a tiny flash of red at his throat several times when the sun hits it just right. He takes his job very seriously! In recent days I have seen him relentlessly pursuing several rather befuddled titmice,driving them away from the deck. And just minutes ago I watched him performing an arc display over a male goldfinch perched in a nearby tree.
