Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/12/2016

Number: 12

I have been walking a consistent 2 km path daily in September through the wooded conservation area behind my home. Most days there have been 2 or 3 Monarch butterflies in the various meadows heading on their way South. On September 12, I counted 12 - the highest number I have ever seen in so short a distance. It was likely the peak migration day here because in the days since then I have seen at most, 4.
