Today I found 3 Monarch caterpillars in one of my milkweed patches outside--two on hairy balls milkweed and one on swamp milkweed--one 5th instar, one 4th instar and one 3rd instar. They are all eating heartily...I hope my supply of milkweed holds out for them. I also have a number of tussock moth caterpillars devouring milkweed. I don't want to do the moths in but I may be forced to take action. A lot of my milkweed is going dormant so I have a limited supply.
