This is more of a progress report. I had over 1000 chrysalis on the outside my greenhouse from my nearby milkweed patch. Some decided to hang in direct sun, some in shade. Only about 1/3 of them made it to hatching. The heat has been intense this late in the year and I believe it effected them greatly. Even the chrysalis in the shade had the same hatch percentage. The chrysalis that were hanging by thread or were in harm of being eaten off a leaf I recused and raised in my outdoor bee house where there was a fan. 99% of them hatched. The 10 degree drop in temperature made all of the difference. The numbers looked SO good for a bumper crop! Mother Nature decided it wouldn't be so:( Overall, I have been able to tag about 300 and send them south.
