Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/23/2016

Number: 3

Update to 9/22 posting. At 7:30am all 5 larvae were in good condition. Between 7:30am and 10:00 am, 2 'disappeared'. Possibilities include stripping the stalk and somewhere in the garden looking for more food, falling off a leaf, conversion to less visible chysalis, or getting eaten by birds (the larvae were visible in vulnerable locations). Three remaining, all relocated to garden with abundant milkweed source and butterfly house, and covered in bird-netting.
